It’s often agreed that a four day trip to Malta gives you just about the right amount of time to visit the island’s highlights. We’ve put our heads together to bring you an easy four-day planner to accompany you along your stay.

Day 1

Follow the seafront promenade along to St Julians all the way to Sliema and enjoy some time in the city, grab a quick lunch or step out for a spot of shopping. Sliema is one of the island’s most cosmopolitan hubs enjoyed by locals and visitors alike.

Walk down to harbour area known as ‘The Ferries’ and look out for the boat shuttle that will take you across the bay to the capital city of Valletta. There’s a minivan service that will drive you up a relatively steep hill to the city centre. Here you can enjoy all that this beautiful city has to offer in terms of history, culture and lifestyle.

Head back to your hotel to relax and unwind before getting ready to hit the town once again. Despite being secluded by the water’s edge, Marina Hotel Corinthia Beach Resort is located minutes away from the island’s most vibrant nightlife area. Enjoy a casual dinner at the Vinotheque before heading down to the neighbouring Paceville for a couple of drinks.

Day 2

Book a micro glider and take on the skies – take my word for this, it’s possibly one of the most exciting things you’re going to be doing in a while. The concept is pretty simple, you and a friend get into two micro gliders and are taken for a 75-minute trial flight over the entire Maltese archipelago. What’s even cooler is that you can borrow a GoPro camera from the reception desk at the Marina Hotel and document your adventure from beginning to end making it a unique souvenir. Freshen up at the hotel and grab a quick lunch before heading back out to the medieval city of Mdina. Known for its high walls and narrow streets, this city takes on an enchanted glimmer at night. Enjoy dinner at one of the several restaurants there and enjoy a casual midnight stroll through its dimly-lit winding paths.

Day 3

Hit the road right after breakfast and head towards the north of the island to Cirkewwa. Here you’ll be able to catch the ferry to Gozo, Malta’s neighbouring island known for its greener countryside and slower way of life. Visit the highlights that include the Citadella, a fortified city found at the heart of Gozo’s capital Victoria, head down to Ramla il Hamra that literally means ‘red sand’ and has been named so after the high amount of clay deposit in the sand that gives it its distinctive red colour, take a tour to the Ggantija megalithic temples before heading down for a lazy late lunch at Xlendi Bay. The restaurants there are mainly specialised in seafood and are literally perched on the water’s edge. If you’d rather opt for something more authentic, I’d suggest looking up the Maxokk bakery in Nadur that specialises in preparing the Gozitan version of pizza that includes a flat bread base topped with potatoes and fresh Gozitan goat’s cheese.

Head out to Dwejra and the Azure window in the afternoon and witness one of the most picturesque sunsets around the Islands.

Day 4

Take some time to pamper yourself today and indulge in a massage or a spa treatment at the Apollo Spa, watch TV, read a book, look out onto the Mediterranean or mingle with other guests by participating in one of the Hotel’s activities – today should be all about you.

If you’re travelling with a loved one it might also be a great opportunity to enjoy some quality time. Surprise them with an intimate picnic on the beach for two. The Marina Hotel offers expertly crafted picnic baskets as well as suggesting some of the most secluded and intimate outdoor areas and beaches in Malta.

Head back to the hotel and enjoy a steamy shower before heading back out for your last dinner by the Mediterranean Sea, or simply snuggle up, ring room service and call it a day!
