If you’ve decided to travel to Malta with the little ones during the next couple of months, we’ve got good news for you. Malta enjoys an extended summer that sometimes stretches as far as December. With so many activities in Malta, we’ve put together some personal recommendations we thought you might enjoy with the kids.
Play on a beach
With an average temperature of 25°C throughout the months of September and October, beaches are always a favourite with travellers. In these cooler months we’d recommend sandy beaches due to their shallow waters and easy accessibility. Additionally, you could always take shot at building a sandcastle should the weather feel too fresh.
#MarinaTip25: St George’s Bay is a popular local beach and is a five-minute walk away from the Marina Hotel Corinthia Beach Resort.
Visit the capital city
Located a mere 9km from the Marina Hotel, Valletta, Malta’s capital city is a picturesque baroque city built by Grandmaster Jean de la Vallette, under the Knights of St John in the 16th century. Today the city offers an eclectic mix of history, culture and cosmopolitan life.
#MarinaTip41: Valletta is easily accessible by car, taxi, or public transport. There’s also a direct ferry service if you happen to be in Sliema.
Snap a family photo at Popeye Village
Open all year round, Popeye Village was originally built as the set for the 1980 musical production of Popeye, featuring Robin Williams. Today it represents one of the most popular activities in Malta for kids offering boat trips, a mini fair, animated shows, as well as two on-site restaurants.

Go to the Marsaxlokk fish market on Sunday
What better way to educate kids as to where food actually comes from than by visiting Malta’s oldest fishing village? Set up every Sunday morning, the Marsaxlokk fish market offers an extensive selection of locally caught fish, a small flea market and a number of traditional restaurants specialising in seafood dishes.

Discover Malta from the sea
Engage in the unique opportunity of exploring the local coastline by hiring a self-drive boat and venturing out to sea. Definitely classified as one of the most-loved activities in Malta by travellers and locals alike, the Marina Hotel’s onsite Water Sports Centre is around 20 minutes away from the Grand Harbour and an hour to the impressively crystalline waters of the Blue Lagoon.
#MarinaTip50: Don’t forget to ask for a waterproof case for your free GoPro – your underwater shot might just be the one that will win you a five-night stay at the Marina Hotel – here’s how!
Drive down to the Playmobil Funpark
The Playmobil FunPark is located in the southern industrial area of Hal Far, and was created with the aim of providing a specifically designed area for children to interact with Playmobil’s range of figures in a fun, safe and creative environment.
The Park includes both internal as well as external play areas, as well as theme-oriented zones, a water-dedicated play area, a sand-pit, a playhouse as well as life-sized Playmobil animals – be sure to bring a camera along, the place is teaming with photo opportunities!
